As they ride over dark cold fields
And have the wind make teary eyes
They look back to their wives and sigh
Then silent say their last goodbyes
The battle cost them many lives
And many end up in the grave
But those who still can see the light
Be known forever as the brave
Now war has left so little scars
To them who left the war behind
But lonely, crying in the dark
The widow and her unbirn child
The young son grows and still he hears
Never walk your father's steps
He weeps and mourns his unknown loss
The falls into a dark eclipse
His father's sun won't shine again
The war has killed another man
